It's short enough to keep my 3 year old interested and funny enough to make him want to "read" it to me. I add my own reactions and back stories, and he remembers them. we never just read it once. This and a book his pediatrician gave him, "Goodnight Gorilla," are his favorites!

This book has great pictures but not enough words. Very boring to read.

My 3 year old son loves this book! While someone else mentioned it not having very many words, it's because of that, that there is an opportunity for teaching. For example, "It was an accident" can easily be turned into a lesson for why you shouldn't hit a baseball towards the house or window. "It wasn't me" and the subsequent "Yes, it WAS me" can be turned into a lesson about lying...and these are only 3 of the pages. Each page offers the same opportunity for explanation of 'why' David gets into trouble and how to avoid/correct it. Of course, that's from a parent's perspective. From a child's perspective, it's just plain fun to see what mischief David gets into! This book and "How Many Kisses Do You Want Tonight" are in very regular rotation (everyday) at our house--he just can't get enough!

My twin four year old grandsons both love to be read to and they choose the "David" books every time we decide to read. I have "No, David!" and "David Gets in Trouble."
I started collecting books for them about a year ago. These two little guys come to visit usually once a week overnight or for the weekend. They both get such a kick out of the misbehaving little boy who does much worse stuff than they would ever do. I think that's what they like about him. They do appreciate the pictures and they point out different things in the pictures that they want to talk about, such as he's wearing his pajamas or toys he has that are shown in the pictures. I enjoy that we find so many things to talk about with each other in the pictures. These two books are getting a little too familiar for me by now,and that's mainly why I am ordering some more by the same author. But the boys would be just as happy to read the same ones over and over again I think.

My children (6&10) just adored this book. Funny and perfect for all ages.
