I too am saddened by the fact that some people have just criticized and tarned this series because the writer is an athiest, and because of his references to the church in these books.....hello people, it's a fiction series.....I would love for people to wake up and just enjoy the fact that these books are a work of art.....it seems like no matter what people do, say, or write its offensive to someone in some way or another.....why can't we all just get along? life would be so much better if it weren't for these trouble making people wanting to voice their outrage against people or things that are different from what they believe.....i love this series.....i couldn't put this one down and went straight into the third book.....people need to be more open and objective about things that are different or they will just miss out on so much

It picked up the story extremely well and filled out the characters. It also gives enough hints in it as to what will happen in the next book to make you want to read it.
