I bought this for two youngsters (5 yrs old) - It's all in the reading - not necessary to scream "NO". Use your storytelling voice on this one. You'll get giggles and laughs. The children really liked it.

Be a lively narrator

I don't agree with the no storyline and encouragement of screaming. It can only encourage screaming if "you the narrator" encourage the screaming. When my son and I read this book we don't scream and actual giggle quite a bit. I agree with the post below mine that it is all in the telling.

The reviews saying this book has no storyline make me chuckle a bit. The beauty of this book lies in how you read it to your child. I can imagine someone reading it as if it were The Velveteen Rabbit. Very boring, indeed! Give it life, parents. You'll be rewarded with giggles.

My granddaughter loves to tell the pigeon "NO!" We both laugh reading this book, she laughs at how the pigeon begs & I laugh at her reactions-they are great!. This is a fantastic book, she now "reads" it to me and everyone else who comes over.
